House Building Tutorials

If your struggling to build houses with the WOW factor, then these tutorials can help you build some amazing houses for your Sims!

Lesson 1: Split Level Homes: Medium Difficulty

STEP 1: Start with a nice rectangular empty room (any size, but best to keep it small)
STEP 2: Create a second floor above it the same size.

STEP 3: You will need to activate a building cheat, type in: boolProp constrainFloorElevation false and hit enter.

STEP 4: Fill up around half the building with foundation (don't worry if you can't get it exact)

STEP 5: It should make the building look like this: 

STEP 6: Go to the top floor and drag a floor tile from one corner of the room to the other.
STEP 7: Go into top-down view (press T) and place connecting stairs, if you are not in this view, it can be tricky.
STEP 8: Remember to turn the cheat off by typing boolProp constrainFloorElevation true.

Now you have a Split Level House!!!

Lesson 2: Tips for Creative Roofs:Easy Difficulty

TIP 1: Big Square Houses = Big Boring Square Roof. They're really boring, so how can we spic it up?
TIP 2: The "Auto Roof" Button can create some nice good, looking roofs, but if you don't think your house needs an "Auto Roof" Don't use it!
TIP 3: When your creating your custom roof, remember you can overlap them as much as you like! To get a good looking roof you will usually need to.
TIP 4: If you want to create an attic, remember you will need at least 3 squares of space to place things under it.
TIP 5: Unfortunately, roofs cannot appear  on top of each other.
TIP 6: Like most things in life, the best way for you to learn is to experiment.

Have Fun creating your own roofs and don't worry if you can't grasp the options in one go, take your time to learn them each at a time!

Lesson 3:House on a Hillside:Medium Difficulty

STEP 1: Create a hole that's nice and even and add 1 tile if foundation.
STEP 2: Now come the tricky bit, you have to make the hole the right height so when you build the walls; the top of the walls will be level with the top of the foundation, this can only be perfected by trial and error, so take your time and experiment.
STEP 3: Level off the rest of the terrain and finish off the foundation, but only on 3 sides.
STEP 4: Finish the first floor will a door, windows, stairs etc.
STEP 5: Carve out a hillside until you are happy with the shape.
STEP 6: Add a second storie and decorate in whatever way you like!

Tada! A House on a hillside, it looks really good too, and you can impress your friends aswell!
